A piece of movie and baseball history. Rare personal Home movie footage taken on the set of Field of Dreams in 1988 (Field of Dreams was nominated for Best Picture at the 1990 Academy Awards).
All personal home movie footage was taken on location at the Dyersville Iowa Farm location during filming of Field of Dreams in 1988. These are my personal VHS-C video tapes that I own that were the camera masters for my personal home movies. This footage was shot with a VHSC Camcorder so the quality reflects the technology of 1988 video tape with imperfections. Behind the scenes home movie footage speeded up - a look at ALL 1:39:16 of the footage at a fraction of the time since I sped it for previewing (with audio purposely left out) UNLISTED Youtube link is available upon request to those with serious interest - please message me. Behind the Scenes Footage includes shots of Kevin Costner, Burt Lancaster, James Earl Jones, Tim Busfield, Amy Madigan, Gabby Hoffmann, Ray Liotta, the director Phil Alden Robinson, director of photography John Lindley, the ghost players, and various cast and crew. See clips and breakdown below. Filming of preparing to shoot for the day on the baseball field with the ghost players playing ball including shots of the farm house. Filming of Tim Busfield as he walks in front of home plate for the scene where he almost gets hit by the baseball.Filming of Ghost Players waiting by the camera. Filming of Kevin Costner with the cast on the bleachers for the daughter's fall some footage has video tracking problems - this is not from the age of the tapes but from a defect with the camera at the time of filming - for this scene and other footage which is affected, I would guess about 14 minutes+ has video tracking issues out of 1 hour 39 minutes. Night time filming on the ballfield of Ray Liotta returning to the corn including the famous "Is this heaven" line. Prep for Burt Lancaster and filming of Burt Lancaster with James Earl Jones, Kevin Costner, Gabby Hoffmann, behind the bleachers as Doc Graham aka Moonlight Graham removes the food from the daughter's mouth after the fall. Filming of the important scene where Burt Lancaster's character Doc Graham is leaving as he says goodbye to the ghost players.
Filming a personal tour of the farm house location as ghost players come into the farm house to eat their lunch. Footage of the set up and filming of the daughter's fall from the bleachers using a stand in for Gabby Hoffmann (tracking issues on the video tape). Other behind the scenes footage of interviews with crew just joking around during down time during filming on location. 1 5 VHS-C video tapes that were used to shoot the footage. 2 One USB Thumb drive with the footage transferred to it from the tapes. The footage on the USB drive. The thumb drive will contain the footage as a single AVI file 720x480 21 GB file Length 1:39:16. If for any reason the thumb drive can't handle the file size, I will place the AVI file onto a external hard.
Personally I wouldn't use the VHS-C tapes again since the footage is already digitized, it's already in the best transfer quality possible for 1988 VHS-C video tape that can be done. Footage amounts to roughly 1 hour 39 minutes and 16 seconds with original audio (there may be a few moments where the transferred footage rewinds a few seconds as I tried to get better tracking on the video for the few problem sections on the tapes where video tracking was off - more info below). Behind the scenes home movie footage speeded up - a look at ALL 1:39:16 of the footage at a fraction of the time since I sped it for previewing (with audio purposely left out). UNLISTED Youtube link is available upon request to those with serious interest - please message me.The audio will be intact on the USB drive or external USB hard drive (if the file doesn't fit on the thumb drive) with video at normal speed with no watermarks. In the sample clips seen in this description, I included a clip with the tracking problems which affect roughly 14+ minutes of footage out of the 1 hr 39 minutes and 16 seconds.. The tracking issues are lines going across the footage making it hard to see parts of the footage and/or making the video footage jump. This is not from the age of the tape but rather a camera defect at the time of filming that affected a small amount of the footage as it was like that upon initial review in 1988 immediately after filming each day's footage. The master footage of 1:39:16 includes a few short instances where I rewinded the footage to transfer it again to try to improve tracking and the rewinding is in the footage.
It only lasts a few seconds when the rewinding happens. Again all of this personal home movie footage, I took during production of Field of Dreams so I own the footage and the video tapes. If the thumb drive is damaged during mailing, I will replace and send you a new thumb drive with the footage on it immediately. The USB thumb drive is your master for all intents and purposes for this home movie footage. There is no replacement costs for the VHS-C video tapes since the Master is the USB thumb drive or external hard drive containing the AVI file of the transfer.
