Here is a wall plaque style award that once belonged to Babe Ruth's teammate and fellow pitcher Ernie Shore. It measures about 15 1/2" long by 11 1/4" wide. This was originally awarded to Ernie Shore on December 7, 1979 by Willis Murphrey, president of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.

Included with this is Ernie's original program from the Dec. 7, 1979 NC HOF ceremony. Its made of wood, cast metal stars and has a custom engraved heavy brass plaque mounted in the middle. In it includes personal photos of her family as well as early and later photos of her dad Ernie.

I'll be listing the remaining photos and other personal items belonging to Ernie Shore later this week. One of these items is a North Carolina Governor's Award which was given away many years after Ernie pitched a "combined no-hitter" in 1917 after relieving pitcher Babe Ruth. Another award is this for his induction into the NC Sports Hall-Of-Fame in 1979.

This award I will 100% guarantee once belonged to Ernie Shore, the "tall guy" sitting directly to the left of Babe Ruth (on the front row) of my 1916 Boston Red Sox team photo that I listed earlier. This award weighs nearly 3.5 lbs and is of good quality and has the Balfour maker's label on the reverse.

About the only issues are a couple or so small scuffs near the middle of the right edge. The worst of these scuffs has penetrated nearly one inch past the outer edge of the brass. Fortunately the scuff only lightly scratched the brass and could likely be buffed away. Away from this area the rest of the wood looks nice and shows little wear. Aside from the scuffed edge, the rest of the engraved brass plaque only shows some extremely light scratches/tiny stains that should buff away without any problems.

Like it is, this award still displays very nicely. Any overly bright white spots are just glare/reflections from the light.
